Jorge Martin has hit back at critics of his decision to join Yamaha’s MotoGP team in 2027, drawing a direct comparison to the skepticism that surrounded his earlier switch to Aprilia. The reigning world champion, who currently rides for Aprilia, will leave the championship-leading manufacturer to join the struggling Japanese outfit at the end of the season.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming round, Martin pointed out that his move to Aprilia in 2025 was also met with widespread doubt, yet that decision led to a world title. “They said going to Aprilia would be a disaster,” he reminded, “and look how that turned out.”
