Outgoing MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin has hailed Marc Marquez’s sensational return to the summit of the sport as a “great example,” insisting that he too can emulate such a comeback after a disastrous, injury-ravaged title defense.
Upon collecting his historic MotoGP World Championship trophy at the season-ending FIM Awards—breaking a six-year drought marked by career-threatening injuries—Marquez delivered a poignant message: “I hope this comeback helps a lot of people as inspiration for their lives, and to never give up.”
That message resonated deeply with Martin. The Spaniard, who made history as the first Independent Team Champion with Pramac before earning his factory stripes with Aprilia, saw his reign crumble under the weight of physical trauma.
“For sure, it’s a good example of a great comeback,” Martin told MotoGP.com. “I don’t want to compare myself to Marc. He’s completely a different person, and a different rider. But I know I can do it also.”
Martin’s 2025 campaign was effectively derailed before the lights even went out, plagued by pre-season fitness issues. His attempts to return were met with further catastrophe: suffering 11 rib fractures and lung damage during his comeback in Qatar, followed by a displaced collarbone fracture sustained in a collision with his own Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, at the Japanese Grand Prix.
Despite the setbacks, Martin looks to Marquez’s blueprint as proof that a return to glory is possible, no matter how deep the valley.
